Protect yourself from Wannacry Ransomware

The last few days have been witnessing a CyberWorldWar across the globe where many computers have been sacrificed. The data of various financial, business unit has been encrypted and prompted to pay $300 through bitcoin to decrypt it again.





A universal ransomware attack was started on Friday which has already infected some 150,000 computers in more than 120 countries. This attack has been known as WannaCry (and “WannaCrypt” and “WannaDecryptor”).


If you have been witnessing such things and running on Windows XP still, make a quick move, atleast by updating your XP patch. This patch has been provided by Microsoft which you can download by visiting this link:

This patch will atleast prevent the WannaCry attack on your PC.

There are few lessons which we must learn from this cyberattack.

1. Always update your Windows OS.
2. Upgrade your computer with the latest technologies.
3. Keep your Windows Defender ON.
4. Keep atleast a genuine Anti-virus program installed on your PC.
5. Regular back-up of your important data needs to be maintained separately ( Mostly in Extenal Devices - Like HDD or USB).
6. Migrate your  IT infrastructure to Cloud.

Most of the countries have taken majors to prevent such attacks. Manhunt to locate the sources of this viruses have already been formed by EC3.
